The RISE Framework helps your child make progress in learning and behavior without the overwhelm and frustration of piecing endless strategies together.
Academic &
Behavior Support
Does this sound like your child?
They can read the words, but their reading is slow and choppy.
They know the math, but constantly skip steps or make careless mistakes.
Homework that should take 20 minutes takes two hours.
They understand something today and seem to forget it tomorrow.
They shut down or give up as soon as something feels difficult.
They need constant reminders just to get started.
They struggle to follow multi-step directions.
They are capable of doing the work, but getting them motivated feels impossible.
The struggle you see is only the surface issue.
Understanding what is contributing to the struggle helps to choose support more intentionally, instead of trying strategy after strategy.

Hi, I am Makayla.
I created BrainPassion Kids because every child deserves the opportunity to shine and thrive, no matter their neurological differences. The visible struggle doesn’t always tell us the whole story.
A child struggling with homework may need more than homework help. A child who constantly forgets directions may need support strengthening how they organize and work with information. A child who gives up during reading may need help developing both learning strategies and the skills to persist when something feels difficult.
My work focuses on helping families look beneath everyday struggles and giving children opportunities to practice the skills that support successful learning, self-management, and independence.
Through BrainPassion Kids, I create personalized skill-building plans and hands-on experiences designed around each child’s individual needs.
I don't diagnose children or provide specialized academic intervention. When a child's needs indicate that specialized evaluation or intervention may be appropriate, I encourage families to connect with the appropriate qualified professional.
Not sure where to start? Share what you’re noticing, and I’ll personally review your responses and recommend which BrainPassion Kids support option may be the best fit.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
BrainPassion Kids provides personalized support designed to teach and strengthen the learning, behavior, and executive-function skills that help children thrive.
We look beyond what your child is struggling with to identify the skills that may need strengthening. From there, we create a personalized plan with targeted activities and strategies based on your child’s individual needs.
-
No. BrainPassion Kids is not traditional tutoring or academic intervention.
A tutor typically focuses on teaching or reteaching academic content. At BrainPassion Kids, we focus on the skills underneath the struggle.
For example, if your child struggles with reading fluency, we may use reading activities while working on skills such as attention, working memory, pacing, self-monitoring, frustration tolerance, and independence.
Academic activities can be used as opportunities to teach, practice, and strengthen the skills that support successful learning.
-
Parents may seek support because their child is struggling with things like:
Learning: reading fluency, completing schoolwork, studying, homework routines, organization, or applying learning strategies.
Behavior & Self-Management: attention, following directions, emotional regulation, impulse control, frustration tolerance, transitions, or independence.
Executive Functioning: planning, working memory, task initiation, flexible thinking, organization, or time management.
Every child is different, so we identify the specific areas that make sense for your child rather than using the same program for everyone.
-
All three options follow the same personalized approach. The difference is who provides the hands-on support.
Self-Guided Support: You receive your child’s personalized plan, activities, and guidance and lead the practice at home.
Guided Support: You lead the practice at home with personalized coaching, progress support, and plan adjustments from BrainPassion Kids.
High-Impact 1:1 Support: I create your child’s personalized plan and work directly with your child through hands-on, in-person skill-building sessions.
You can choose the level of support that works best for your family.
-
Your child’s progress is monitored based on the specific goals and skills identified in their personalized plan.
Rather than comparing your child to other children, we look at their individual growth over time, such as needing fewer prompts, completing tasks more independently, using strategies more consistently, staying engaged longer, or demonstrating greater confidence with a skill.
As your child grows, their activities and goals can be adjusted so their plan continues to focus on the skills they need most.
-
Not currently.
BrainPassion Kids currently provides educational coaching and personalized skill-building support, not behavior-analytic assessment or ABA treatment.
As BrainPassion Kids grows and professional credentials expand, additional services may be offered within the appropriate professional scope and requirements.
-
No. BrainPassion Kids can complement other support your child receives, but it does not replace specialized academic intervention, special education, psychotherapy, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, medical care, or other professional services when those are needed.
Our focus is teaching and practicing the learning, behavior, self-management, and executive-function skills identified in your child’s personalized plan.
-
We begin by learning about your child’s strengths, challenges, routines, and the concerns you’re noticing at home or school.
We then look at the situations where your child is having difficulty and identify skills that may benefit from additional teaching and practice.
This process is used to create your child’s personalized skill-building plan. It is not a diagnostic evaluation. If your child’s needs suggest that specialized testing, diagnosis, therapy, or academic intervention may be appropriate, we may recommend connecting with a qualified professional.
-
No two plans have to look the same.
For example, if a third grader is struggling with reading fluency, comprehension, completing work, and becoming frustrated easily, their personalized focus might include:
Reading Practice + Attention + Working Memory + Task Initiation + Frustration Tolerance + Self-Monitoring
Another child struggling with homework may focus on:
Organization + Planning + Time Management + Task Initiation + Independence
Your child’s plan identifies what we’re working on, the skills we want to strengthen, activities for practicing them, and how we’ll monitor growth.
-
Sessions are built around your child’s personalized goals.
Depending on their needs, we may use games, movement, academic activities, structured challenges, routines, real-life tasks, and guided practice to teach and strengthen targeted skills.
One activity may strengthen several skills at the same time.
For example, a reading activity might provide opportunities to practice attention, working memory, persistence, self-monitoring, frustration tolerance, and independence while your child practices reading.
The goal is for every activity to have a purpose connected to your child’s plan.
-
1:1 sessions are held in person at an agreed-upon location, such as a local library and sometimes the home.
Specific meeting details are arranged with each family before services begin.
-
Parents are an important part of the process.
Families receive access to a private parent space through Mighty Networks, where you can stay connected to your child’s plan and support.
Depending on your service level, this may include your child’s:
Current Goals • Skills Being Practiced • Session Updates • At-Home Activities • Resources • Progress • Next Steps
This helps you understand not only what your child is practicing, but why we’re practicing it.Parents are an important part of the process.

No. BrainPassion Kids does not diagnose medical, psychological, developmental, or learning conditions.
We can work on skills that may be challenging for many different children, including children who already have diagnosed conditions, as long as their needs are appropriate for the services we provide.
When concerns require formal evaluation or specialized treatment, families should work with the appropriate qualified professional.
